Mousehole Harbour, Cornwall
Pronounced mouzel! Mousehole is a quaint and pretty harbour town in Cornwall famed for its' spectacular lightshow at Christmas amongst other seafaring things.
This Summer I was lucky enough to spend some time in the beautiful West of Cornwall and the harbours of Cornwall are particularly inspiring. The combination of quirky buildings, boats and harbour walls are all a fabulous combination for an artist. I am particularly drawn to recreating the feel of some of these textures on paper and canvas. This painting has taken several processes: A layer of collage which includes woodchip wallpaper, brown wrapping paper and newsprint from Cornish newspapers. Followed by layering of acrylic paints and inks spattered, rolled and printed (I don't think a paintbrush was used at all in this painting!) A limited range of colours which include indigo blue and burnt sienna, two of my favourite regulars! The photograph that I used for the inspiration is courtesy of
The painting is mounted and framed in an off white mount and framed in a white painted box frame. (if sent abroad I may well remove the glass and replace it with polycarbonate glass for safety reasons). I can sell it just mounted and backed if preferred or possibly other framing options, please email me for this option
