Autumn at Wayland Smithy
This is a painting of Wayland Smithy, the atmospheric long barrow ancient burial ground site near White Horse hill near Uffington in Oxfordshire. I didn't want the painting to be too spooky, so painted it from sketches I made there on a lovely October afternoon, so it would include some bright colours from the Autumn trees and fallen leaves all around. I have painted it using artist's quality watercolour with the addition of a little ink and pen here and there.
This painting is done on Saunders Waterford high quality 400 gsm watercolour paper and framed in a distressed cream painted frame outer size 20'x24'.
